That pretty much sums up our 2018 season at the Falcon Lake Golf Course. Not quite.
Lets recap. The season began in rain and it ended in rain but everything in between was awesome. Not once did we have to cancel a game mid-season due to bad weather. The course was immaculate, we got a brand new club house with an excellent restaurant, we had a putting clinic with Falcon Lake Golf Course’s pro Jeff…so there is no excuse for not being on top of our games!
Top of her game at our annual club championship was Brenda Cleverly with a gross of 87 with Dawna Wallace, our B gross winner almost creating an upset with her score of 88.
And who could forget Tracy Evans with her hole-in-one this year! Evelyn Proceviat was our ringer board winner while Tracy Evans had the most birdies with 9 this year. That picture is going to look amazing on one of your cabin walls over the next year Tracy (ya, the hole-in-one-club picture too).
Congratulations to you all.
Our wind-up this year was at the Falcon Lake Golf Course Restaurant. There were some grumblings regarding our departure from our tradition of having our meetings at a member’s cottage but you have to admit, it is a beautiful space, the food is good, the service was great so we’re all for giving it another chance. Our 2019 opener will be at the club house again in the spring, however the plans are to have our fall wind-up at Hildy Dyck’s cabin. The best of both worlds. Thanks Hildy!

What a delight to see member Jackie McIvor well again at the wind-up.
Golf at Falcon didn’t end here for some of our members. Many of them participated in the 42nd Annual Sewer Lid tournament held on September 13th at the Falcon Lake Golf Course. Rain again but that didn’t dampen the party! The restaurant served up a delicious steak and salad dinner with an awesome dessert plate. A big shout out to Evelyn Proceviat who organized the event—the silent auction was great and we all took home some really great prizes.
Whoa! We had a visitor crash our party on the 4th tee that day.

Member Christine Ross surveys the damage.
This old tree came crashing down on the golf cart rented to group of men immediately ahead of our first Sewer Lid ladies group. Thank goodness no one got hurt (except the golf cart that is). As it happened all the men were on the men’s tee box.
2019 Ladies Classic.
Last but not least plans are already underway for the 2019 Ladies Classic at the Falcon Lake Golf Course on June 1st, 2019. It will be quite a challenge to top last years $18,000.00 but no matter what we raise, we raise awareness about cancer.
We’ve all heard that cancer can be cured when detected early. Screening tests are the only way to guarantee early detection. Get out there and get screened!
More details regarding the Ladies Classic will be posted in spring so make your plans to be back to the lake area by June 1, 2019. Like last year, it will be a great event!
Have a great winter…See you all in the spring!
