The short game clinic held in July arranged by our sports captain Tracy Evans was a sold out success! Ten of our members were coached by Falcon Golf Course’s Head Pro Jeff Heiland who showed us the short game way.
Chip shots require a narrow stance — your left foot back from the target line. 80% of your weight on your left side. Move your hands ahead of the ball to encourage a downward strike. During the stroke keep the back of your left wrist flat and firm as in putting. Swing smoothly through the ball, longer or shorter, depending how far it is to the pin. Amazing. A little loft, bounce onto the green and roll toward the pin for a one putt. Who knew it was that easy?
Season ending.
It’s hard to believe that our season is rapidly coming to a close. How time flies but what a season it was. Rained out only one day (for most of us at least) otherwise the weather was beautiful and the course was in excellent shape. Sadly our league’s last official game at the Falcon Lake Golf course is on August 29th. Following our last game, member Hildy Dyck will be hosting our annual closing meeting and luncheon at her cottage located on West Hawk Lake, High Rock Beach Road, Lot 5.
The luncheon fee is $10.00 each which will be collected at the lunch. Please indicate on the “on-line sign-up sheet” if you plan to attend the lunch as early as possible so the social committee can plan accordingly.
We will be looking for a new executive in the fall. Please help out our club by considering taking on a leadership role starting in September 2017. This is an exciting time to be involved as next year the Falcon Lake Golf Course should have a brand new club house!
